Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1959 : correspondence

About the Project

Visual documentation has long been an indispensable part of scientific expeditions. When multiple organizations come together to carry out an expedition, many details need to get worked out in preparation, including which group keeps which specimens, illustrations, photography, and notebooks, etc. upon the team's return. Detailed preparation can head off problems both during and long after the expedition. Join us in transcribing the correspondence of the 1959 Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition to and from expedition leader and United States National Museum curator Dr. Waldo LaSalle Schmitt. Learn more about what was discussed before, and after, that voyage.
