Proceedings of the Board of Regents Meeting held on May 9, 1983

About the Project

What are your options when your lease runs out? How do you handle an overabundant deer population? How do you manage a bequest of 6,000 pieces of art? These and many other topics were the focus of the Board of Regents meeting in the spring of 1983. The Smithsonian's lease on its Radiation Biology Lab was set to expire in the next few years. The facility in Front Royal was grappling with a growing herd of deer. Joseph Hirshhorn had bequeathed a large number of artworks to the Institution. And the Secretary was considering retirement. Help us transcribe the minutes from this meeting of the Smithsonian's Board of Regents. Your efforts make it possible to perform full text searches across these and other meeting minutes to quickly identify all references to a particular matter.
