Devra Kleiman - Peruvian Amazon field notes, January 2005

About the Project

We're headed to Peru with Smithsonian's National Zoo conservation biologist's Dr. Devra Kleiman! In 2005, Kleiman recorded her trip and pretty much every animal she saw on various hikes and boat rides on the Amazon. Her notes include observations of green iguanas and gray dolphins, and of laughing falcons and marine toads. In case you're confused about her timeline or whereabouts, the field book includes maps and graphs, as well as a handwritten itinerary of her travels. Kleiman also records the times of many of her activities, so transcribers will get a good sense of what her trip was like. Assist us in making Kleiman's notes available for future researchers, so that they may highlight her important work with animals, especially endangered species.
