USNM Curators Annual Reports: Department of Mollusks, 1883

About the Project

As a new museum grows, the staff must also grow. Such was the case for the United States National Museum in 1883. Honorary curator William Healy Dall (1845-1927) describes the impact of this change as the mollusks collections were moved in order to create space for the new clerks and other department activities. Moving collections always leads to new discoveries, some good and some bad. Could you help us transcribe Dall's report?
