Proceedings of the Board of Regents Meeting held on September 18, 1995

About the Project

How do you handle something as controversial as putting the Enola Gay airplane on exhibit? At the same time, what goes into producing a traveling exhibit? Both of these topics came in front of the Smithsonian Institution's Board of Regents at their meeting September 18, 1995. In celebration of the Institution's 150th Anniversary, an exhibit entitled "America's Exhibit" was scheduled to tour the country, opening in Los Angeles in six months' time. At the National Air and Space Museum, the Enola Gay bomber had been put on exhibit and was generating all kinds of attention. Please help us to transcribe these meeting minutes. Your efforts make it easier for researchers and scholars to work with this material, and you'll get a glimpse of how the Institution responds in unusual circumstances.
