Proceedings of the Board of Regents Meeting held on September 27, 1971

About the Project

The biggest topic of discussion at the September 1971 Board of Regents meeting was about how the Smithsonian would join the nation in celebrating the Bicentennial of the American Revolution in 1976. Plans included new exhibits at the National Museum of American History, a capital improvement program for the National Zoological Park, and, most significantly, the opening of the much-anticipated National Air and Space Museum. Join a group of volunpeers in transcribing this project, which includes early presentations about the festivities from some of Smithsonian’s top leaders.
