Doris Holmes Blake - Correspondence with Arthur Lake Holmes and Lucy Wentworth Holmes, November 1931 - February 1932
About the Project
The latest installment of Doris Holmes Blake's correspondence with her parents, Arthur and Lucy, takes us from the end of 1931 and into the winter of 1932. The greatest part of the letters' contents continues to deal with the quotidian realities of life in New England during the Great Depression, and the challenges Lucy experiences as she cares for her husband, Arthur, in a period of poor health. However, woven within the missives are references to world events outside of their domestic sphere, including rumblings from Asia and Europe as history moves toward global conflict. Join your fellow volunpeers as they dig in to Holmes family letters!
