Our look into Edward Nelson's four-year stint as a weather observer in Alaska continues on from our previous Transcription Center project dealing with the second year of his assignment. This new journal takes us from May 1878 through the end of that year. His narrative descriptions of his surrounds and of the species he observes are wonderfully poetic and evocative—you can almost feel yourself transported to the Alaskan wilderness. Join your fellow volunpeers in bringing more of Nelson's field notes to the digital stage!
