About the Project

In a crisis or in long-term challenging circumstances, it is usually the most visible participants who receive recognition—a general or president handling a global conflict, emergency responders and health officials navigating a deadly pandemic—and not enough attention is given to those everyday heroes at home and in our communities who continue to work tirelessly to keep life moving forward. In the aftermath of the second World War, Lucy Wentworth Holmes, Doris Holmes Blake's mother, is one of those people, whose intimate knowledge of and care for her friends and neighbors is a credit to humanity. Be inspired along with your fellow volunpeers by her resilience.
