Edward William Nelson - Alaska, July - September 1920, Volume 2

About the Project

This second volume of Nelson's records from his 1920 trip to Alaska begins much like the first, with lists of contacts and brief descriptions of their local significance. It then returns to a more typical pattern for Nelson, of densely written observations filling the pages of his notebook. Much of the early content appears to be getting the lay of the land, recording conversations about recent patterns in animal migration and hunting with locals that presumably informed his own efforts in Alaska. How much might have changed in the intervening four decades since his last visit? Find out with your fellow volunpeers!
