Edward William Nelson - Western United States, October - November 1921

About the Project

The beginning of this 1921 field book from an expedition Nelson took to the western US is a litany of people and places—presumably contacts Nelson had or wanted to make on his journey from Washington DC to the West Coast, stopping in Chicago, Kansas, and Utah, among other locations. While not typical of Nelson's earlier field notebooks, perhaps this is a reflection of his professional growth over the course of his career—these names represent connections and networks built over decades of experience that help further the work of naturalists like Nelson. Dig in to these records with your fellow volunpeers!
