Edward William Nelson - California, 1923

About the Project

In this Nelson notebook from a trip to California in 1923, the front of the volume features helpful forms for tracking expenses and travel that must have been such a helpful resource for field scientists. Ironically enough, immediately following the forms for mileage reimbursement, Nelson records a complaint from one of the Bureau of Biological Survey's employees about his rate of reimbursement—especially because he learned someone else was receiving more. Nelson surely would have preferred to be getting down to his own work, but this was the reality of his job as Chief of the Bureau. Join your fellow volunpeers in digging into this stage of Nelson's collecting career!
