Jaime Davidovich papers, Project file: Artists' Television Network, "SoHo Television Presents," Press Kit, 1978

About the Project

Video artist and media theorist Jaime Davidovich (1936-2016) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After gaining a prestigious grant from Torcuato di Tella Institute, Davidovich moved to New York City and continued his studies at the School of Visual Arts. He quickly established his career in the arts through graphic design, then later exhibited his artwork of "video paintings." In the late 1970s, Davidovich cofounded the Artists Television Network, a nonprofit that produced television segments on the public access channel. Through this platform, Davidovich notably performed as Dr. Videovich on The Live Show!, a weekly program which ran 1979-1984 and showcased avant-garde guests and commentary. Help us transcribe this collection and learn more about early versions of video art! Note: special instructions in the full project description.
