Archaeological Research in China (Plates and Figures) 1923-1934

About the Project

C.W. Bishop's archaeological research also documents the work with plates and illustrations. Transcribe this set of plates and figures to see discoveries including sculpted cliffs, buddhas, and pottery; all identified during Bishop’s Freer Gallery-sponsored expeditions in northern and central China during the period 1923 to 1934. As you transcribe this project, you’ll learn about the day-to-day operations and the rich Chinese histories that emerged in the unearthed archaeological record.
