James Eike: Selected Field Notes

A bird watcher in northern Virginia for over 50 years, Eike's detailed observations fill over a hundred field notebooks. Help us transcribe some of his notebooks and gain some insight into the dedication, enthusiasm and outstanding service in the area of ornithology that prompted the Virginia Society of Ornithology to dedicate the James W. Eike Service Award in his honor. These notebooks range from the 1950's to 1983, including the notebook containing his last observations just days before his death in February 1983.
