Vernon Bailey - Field notes, December 11-16, 1891 and June 20-July 19, 1892

About the Project

How do you keep your field notes straight? This second of two field books naturalist Vernon Bailey used in 1891 and 1892 begins with notes of plant and animal specimens and journal entries from a week in December 1891 near the Elk River in Minnesota, then Michigan and Canada. Later entries record his observations from mid-June to mid-July 1892 in Missouri, ending near Cedar Vale, Kansas including a few geological drawings Bailey made. The first book of this set covers his time earlier in the fall of 1891, then January 1892. Team up with us to transcribe his field notes and gain a better picture of Bailey's collecting activities spanning the country in these two years.
