Vernon Bailey - Field notes, Nevada and California October 1890 - January 1891

About the Project

The work of Bureau of Biological Survey field agent Vernon Orlando Bailey (1864–1942) took him all over the United States. In the fall and early winter of 1890-91 that meant Nevada and California for Bailey, now Chief Field Naturalist of the United States Department of Agriculture. This field book contains dated specimen lists for plants and animals he observed and collected during his work in California and Nevada from October 17, 1890 - January 7, 1891. Drawings of animal tracks are part of his field record made primarily from locations in the vicinity of Reese River Canyon. Join other volunteers transcribing this field book ranging in locations from Wells, Nevada to Death Valley, Panamint Valley and other places in the Mojave Desert, ending at "Surprise Cañon."
