David Crockett Graham - Diary no. 9, March 1930 - June 1930

About the Project

How might you prepare a bird or insect to be shipped to a museum? Among the personal notes about David Crockett Graham's specimen collecting in China is his description of preparing the specimens he found there to be shipped back to the United States. This 9th field book in a series of ten is a diary from 25 March to 24 June 1930 documenting Graham's field collecting trip to Li Chuang (currently Lizhuang), Chuan Gioh Chi, Chungking, and the Suifu vicinity. Graham collected or purchased mammals, birds, insects, snails, and possibly other specimens. He also notes anthropological measurements of local men and women during this trip. Help us transcribe the typescript version this diary. Together this work helps us make his diary contents fully accessible to researchers and scholars online. The handwritten version can be seen here.
