Certified Proofs of Georgia Box 1

About the Project

In cities including Atlanta and Newnan in Georgia, currency was issued from national banks - but not before being certified by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. A practice from 1863, certified proofs allowed the BEP to ensure intaglio printing plates were accurate before currency was printed. Learn how to transcribe these currency sheets and help us create new collections records.
