Certified Proofs of New York (Box 20)

About the Project

In New York cities and towns like Milford, national banks issued currency to patrons following a proving process by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The use of proofs continued from the 19th and into the 20th centuries, assuring consistency in the intaglio printing plates before they were printed. Learn how to transcribe this project here. Together, we'll create records for each proof sheet and expand the rich data in our collections.
