In 1924, Burpee & Co. announced a prize contest where anyone could write in explaining What Burpee's Seeds Have Done for Me? Thousands of letters, some accompanied by photographs, were mailed to the company's Philadelphia headquarters. Coming from over thirty states and four countries, the letters contain handwritten or typed stories from gardeners detailing the significance of Burpee seeds in their lives.
