Exhibition of Pictorial Photography, by Chin-san Long (1939)

About the Project

Join the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives to transcribe this catalog from the 1939 Jingshan, the "exhibition of photographs by Lang father of Asian photography." This exhibition which took place in Shanghai during the Japanese invasion of China, was an important event in establishing Lang as an emerging champion of a photography that embraced traditional Chinese styles and subjects. The catalog is primarily in English, although there are also portions in French, Italian, Dutch, and of course, Chinese. *Note*: You may describe the image in double brackets, if you would like.
