Proceedings of the Board of Regents - May 8, 1968

About the Project

What would be the impact of building a waterway connecting the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans? How would this affect marine ecology? By 1968, the Smithsonian Tropical Research had done some initial studies. Now, at the May meeting, the Board of Regents were asked to consider establishing a formal program to focus on this topic of study. Agencies planning the Atlantic-Pacific InterOceanic Sea Level Canal in Panama were very interested in this topic and looked to the Smithsonian for help. Join us in this project and learn more about this and other topics presented to the Regents in the spring of 1968.
