2 [[underlined]]Organization[[/underlined]]: The personnel comprising the aviation Unit, and their duties were as follows: [[underlined]]J. D. Moutain[[/underlined]], in charge of the unit, acted in the air as pilot, navigator, observer, and radio operator. On the ground, his duties included photographic laboratory work, reduction of aerial data obtained, construction of maps and mosaics and supervision of the Unit. [[underlined]]M. A. Distel[[underlined], airplane mechanic, was responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the airplane, and assisted in Mechanical work of all kinds in connection with the activities of the Unit. During photographic flights, Distel acted as aerial camera man. [[underlined]]Mrs. J. D. Mountain[[/underlined]], radio operator, operated the ground radio transmitter and receiver, maintaining contact with the airplane during all flights. In addition, she supervised the Unit's mess, and assisted in office and laboratory work. [[underlined]]R. I. Shanks[[/underlined]] was assigned to act as observer during aerial flights.
