[[preprinted blue]]4[[/preprinted blue]] [[three check marks left corner, one blue two black]] [[right corner]] D. 5740 Dr. & Des. [[/right corner]] Pleurophyllidia (Chuni) Animal lanceolate with hook like projection of the foot at the termination of the anterior foot coral red with wavy longitudinal white lines, Notum, rounded anteriorly acuminate posteriorly somewhat frilled at the edge traversed by fourteen [["u" was inserted]] narrow well elevated [[insertion]] lamellar [[/insertion]] longitudinal ridges 10 of which only are represented anteriorly. These lamella are separated by deep channels about as wide as the lamella. The top of each lamella is marked by a white median line about half as wide as the lamella, and bordered on each side by a zone of coral red which extends also down over the sides of the lamella and onto the channel [[that]] separates them. A darker [[insertion]] oval [[/insertion]] area almost [[?moss]] brown extends from the middle of the notum to the last fourth of the entire length of the animal where it disappears The [[?area]] marked coral red on the lamella anterior and posterior to this spot are [[?moss]] brown lines excepting the deep channel which remains the same narrow brown streaks extending over its sides into the channel at irregular intervals. [[insertion]] Edge of Notum white [[/insertion]]. Foot broadly expanded anteriorly with a decided triangular backwards curved hook like flap at the posterior termination of the anterior fourth. Entire foot reforms excepting a very narrow border which is white Head lips and tentacles coral red - excepting their edges and tips which are white. Tentacles broadly triangular joined by a broad somewhat sinuous flap at base Rhinophores elongate conic retractile apparently [[?without]] sheath - base cylindrical 1 mm long while its club longitudinally ridged, deep coral red with white tips. Eyes small black situated on the base and at the outside of the rhinophores. Epinotum whitish at base streaked transversely with brown on the entire half and edged with white anteriorly.
Notes on Transcribing this page (optional)
ready for final review Pleurophyllidia was a former name of a genus and Bartsch misspells it at first but then writes "i" over but it does not block the initial misspell. Pleurophyllidia Chuni now falls into Armina Rafinesque. However, it is more likely that this is Dermatobranchus pulcherrimus. http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/8254 mandc: finished 11/2/17; marked for review 11/8/17.
