Respectfully applies for the restoration of certain pieces of property belonging to him Situated in and near the town of Beaufort No Ca now held by the U.S. Government as abandoned property (4) enclosures File Rec'd Hd Qrs. B &c N.C. Dec 27/67 Bureau R.F. & A.L. Hd Qrs Sub Div. 3d Sub. Dist. N.C. Beaufort N.C. Decr 11/67 Respectfully forwarded to Bvt. Lt. Col. J. F. Chur A.A.A. Genl. Thro. Lt Col Moore S.A. Comr. with the information that the within described properties is partly occupied by Freedmen. Viz:— Lots Nos 188, 191, 198 & 199. The 12 1/2 acres land and Part [[?]] lot. 53 with improvements are vacant. Mr Bell has offered to sell to the freedmen occupying the above lots, or, lease to them, each of the Freedmen 6 in number have houses built on the lots, authorised to do so by the Treasury Dept. in 1865. The lots are described as on my Returns, as part of what known as Uniontown.
