above bargained sold, and described land to contain fifteen acres more or less. In witness whereof, I do hereunto set my hand and seal, this the 11th October, 1847. Susan her X mark Etheridge Seal Attest Jno. M. Hough W. R. Sutton State of North Carolina, Currituck County This Indenture made and done the 11th day of September, 1847, by and between Hugh Gaylord, of the State of North Carolina, of the one part, and Sabray Etheridge, of the other part, both of the State and County aforesaid, for the consideration of the sum of eight dollars to me in hand paid by Hugh Gaylord, before the ensealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt hereof I do [[strikethrough]] hereby [[/strikethrough]] acknowledge myself fully satisfied contented and paid, have this day bargained, sold and conveyed and confirmed unto the aforesaid Hugh Gaylord, a certain piece or parcel of land, lying and being on Roanoke Island, in the State and County aforesaid, commencing at the Sound at Daniel Meekins's south line, thence running said line
