^[[ [M 35] ]] [[preprinted]] Office Superintendent Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, CENTRAL DISTRICT, Raleigh, N.C.,^[[Dec, 18th.]], 1866. [[/preprinted]] Col. J. V. Bomford Mil. Comd^r/" & Asst. Coms^r/" B. R. F. & A. L. for North Carolina Colonel: I have the honor to state that on the night of the 13th inst. a man calling himself [[underlined]] Williams [[/underlined]], but whose real name is supposed to be [[underlined]] Waterbury [[underlined]] and who resides at either Goldsboro or at Fayetteville in this State, entered my boarding house in this City and in my private sleeping room attempted to murder me. Lieut. [[underlined]] McAlpine [[/underlined]] procured a Warrant for his Arrest and placed it in the hands of the Sheriff of Wake County, and my Son procured the assistance of the Local Police of the City. but up to the present time the would be Murderer is at large. I would respectfully request that this offender be arrested by the Military Authority under provisions of G. O. No. 44. Current [[series?]], H'd. Qr's. Army of U. S. A. G. O.
