4 [[checkmark symbol]] I went to New York the middle of May to assist in getting the new locomotives into service. There's nothing like geography to give you the feel of something like this, particularly place names and just as I used to thrill at the names of the New York Central stations along their main line, I began to thrill at New Haven's line-up of stations between New York and New Haven. This line ran up through one of the highest-class residential areas in the world, I suppose, and the names of many of the places are very familiar. I'll list the stations as well as a few "reference spots" on the run from Grand Central to New Haven: Grand Central 125th Street Mott Haven Woodlawn (change to AC) Mt. Vernon Columbus Avenue Pelham New Rochelle Jct. New Rochelle Larchmont Mamaroneck Harrison Rye Port Chester Greenwich Cos Cob (power plant) Riverside Old Greenwich Stamford Glenbrook Noroton Hts. Darien Rowayton South Norwalk East Norwalk Westport & Saugatuck Green's Farms Southport Fairfield Bullard's Bridgeport Stratford Devon Milford West Haven New Haven When leaving New York at Penn Terminal, the spots we noted were Hell Gate, Oak Point, Hunt's Point, Pelham Draw and then New Rochelle Jct. where we would join the line to Grand Central.
