March 1st., 1944. Dear Miss Varga: As you may recall, we have corresponded previously, as Lieutenant Alan R. Jackson had given me an introduction to you. I am organizing an exhibition from April 19th. to May 6th., at my galleries, of some of Fernand LEGER's work, which I thought might be of interest to your readers, as he is the foremost artist of this modern movement in this country today - Picasso and Braque being still in France. The short appended note will give you a better idea of the scope of the exhibition, and I am also sending you a photograph, should you be able to use it. Yours very sincerely, (Germain Séligmann) Miss Margit Varga, Life Magazine, 9 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, 2, New York.
