tution, at 523 2nd Avenue, North. At practically every meeting held Dr. J. P. Robinson, the efficient chairman, has presided. The attendance from month to month and from time to time whenever these meetings have been held, has been full. Dr. E. R. Carter has journeyed often from Atlanta to the headquarters in Nashville to attend these meetings. The Board has divided itself up into sub-committees for the purpose of expediting the work of the institution, and in delegating some phase of the work to those particular and specific committees. These Committees comprise first, an Executive Committee, consisting of the Vice Chairman, Rev. J. L. Harding and your Secretary. The Lesson Committee which consist of the Secretary, Dr. E. R. Carter, the Editorial Secretary, Dr. D. J. Hull, and the Rev. Ernest Hall of Cleveland, Ohio. These two Committees function regularly and do the work assigned to them by the Board. BUILDINGS THAT MAKE UP THE HOUSING QUARTERS OF THE PLANT Perhaps it is needless for me to describe the domicile of your institution and to name the buildings, but for fear that there may be those in the denomination who will read this report do not know the facts we recite them here. The Plant is housed in seven brick buildings located at Second Avenue and Locust Street. Second Avenue was formerly known as [[portion of page removed; a small section of the drawing of the group's building shows through from previous page but is not transcribed, as it belongs to that page rather than this one]] your cooperation, religiously adhered to it. SUNDAY SCHOOL, B. Y. P. U. AND ORGANIZED CLASS LITERATURE Publications for use in our Sunday Schools, our B. Y. P. U. Societies, our Organized Classes, the Camp Fire Girls, the Boy Cadets and other similar organizations are written, manufactured, printed, supplied and sent out from your institution. We are pleased to report that notwithstanding the unusual financial depression and the shortage of funds, with the unemployment situation, there has been only a slight decrease in the circulation during the past year, of these publications. This is due to the fact that hundreds of new schools have been (8) [[end page]] [[start page]] added to your list of patrons. This has supplemented the reduction in circulation from some of the older schools and regular patrons, who found it necessary, in the conserving of an economic program, to reduce their orders. We are pleased to report to you that much improvement has been made in this literature and these publications, from a literary point of view as well as from the denominational make-up. Our Editorial Committee, working with the Editorial Secretary and his department, is at work and is constantly seeking new material and keeping the literature up to a standard of efficiency. THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, AND THE WORLD'S SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION Keeping abreast with the forward movement of religious organizations that have to do with the Sunday Schools and Young People's Organizations, your Secretary has not only attended the World's Sunday School Convention held recently, but he, in company with members of the staff and workers in the institution, attended the International Council of Religious Education and the International Youths Conference held in Toronto. From this gathering, the Secretary, with his workers, had an opportunity of listening in on the plans and program for the future development of the youths of America as well as those in other parts of the world. The meeting was informational and inspirational, and while we do not wish to be considered as egoists, we want to report to you that we found that we are not far behind in the pursuance of our own work in comparison with the work of this International Body, especially when you take into consideration that many of the things advanced by them and much of the work attempted would not at all fit in with the masses, and certainly not with many of our schools located in various sections of the several states far removed from the metropolitan centers. We would recommend, however, to your Board that the Secretary and at least three others be sent to the World's Sunday School Convention to be held in Rio De Janero, Brazil in 1932, that we might further our study and complete our survey as well as keep in close contact with the religious world, and that we too, might be present when the plans for the new Cycle of Lessons will be outlined and submitted. We believe that the Sunday Schools of our denomination would assist (9)
