but Dr. J. A. Sharpe, the superintendent of Teacher Training and the conductor of this department, was preceded by a selection from the Tulane Avenue quartet, after which Dr. Sharpe talked and gave instructions on "Organization" as it pertains to the Sunday School. Then Mrs. Rosie W. Strang, manager of the Vocational Bible School For Children, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was presented and made a timely talk, demonstrating the work done by the children in the school. The reading of papers was next called for by Rev. D. J. Hull, the arbiter, and the following were read: Miss Lovie Woods of Nashville, Tenn., took for her subject, "What are the advantages of teaching Baptist Doctrine in the Sunday School?" Mr. Charlie E. Coleman of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Chicago, Mr. L. E. Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Miss, Inez A. Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Miss Mattie M. Johnson of Lockland, Ohio, all read papers on the subject "The Front Line Sunday School, What Is It?" Mrs. C. L. Holt of Lockland, Ohio, read a paper on "What is the ultimate aim of all Sunday School Workers?" All of these papers were well written and ably presented, each containing splendid information. After announcements by the Secretary the meeting adjourned. Friday--Afternoon Session Rev. J. P. Robinson, the Chairman, called the meeting to order at 2:30. After fifteen minutes devotions and selections by the Sunday School Congress Chorus, the Congress Secretary called the conductors to the platform, presented them and gave a general outline of their departments and work. Each department was then called by the Secretary and the conductors with their followers marched from the auditorium to their various departments where a session was held until five o'clock. Friday--Night Session It had been auuonced [[sic]] that Rev. O. J. Allen, D. D., pastor of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va., would deliver a sermon, and by eight o'clock the auditorium of Ebenezer was filled. A short musical and literary program preceded the sermon, and there were several selections from the great Sunday School Congress Chorus, then Dr. Allen preached a soul-stirring sermon, one that will be long remembered by the vast audience. At the conclusion of his sermon he sang "I'm Going Through", which added to the emotion to which the audience had already been (16) [[end page]] [[start page]] stirred, thus religious fervor was at its height when benediction was pronounced by Rev. J. P. Robinson. [[line]] Saturday--Morning Session At 8:30 the Bible Conference, conducted by Rev. Ernest Hall, D. D., of Cleveland, Ohio, was opened with devotionals led by Mr. E. D. Tucker of Atlanta, Ga., prayer was offered by Rev. J. H. Brewer, D. D., of St. Louis, Mo., the congregation sang "Draw Me Nearer", Dr. Hall read the scripture consisting of the first six verses from the third chapter of Revelation, then for one hour he delivered his last discourse for this Congress session, reaching the climax and putting the finishing touches upon the five days of Biblical instructions and sermons delivered each morning. Rev. L. A. McIntyre, the conductor of the Home Department, took charge at 9:30, and for a half hour he gave instructions, using blackboard demonstrations on how to conduct a Home Department in the church. At the conclusion of this discourse Mrs. Mattie Anderson, pulled off a very unique little playlet demonstrating the duty of the Home Department. This was interesting, entertaining and helpful, and Mrs. Anderson received much praise on this very timely and instructive demonstration. After a selection by the Tulane Avenue Baptist Church Quartet Rev. J. A. Sharpe, superintendent of Teacher Training concluded his series of lectures for this Congress period when he talked for one hour on "The Sunday School and Evangelism." Then Miss I. A.
