[[pre-printed]] Saturday, August 24, 1907 [[pre-printed]] I am out of the granite business for good and all. Clements and I had a very nice little row today about his not paying me the vacation money he owes me, and I informed him of my sentiments in a rather strenuous manner, and casually told him he thought he was "damned smart." Wow, but he foamed at the mouth! The "bloodhound" again. I put on my street attire, shook hands and said goodbye [with to all in the office except the boss, and trod gaily out. I will permit Chas. to go to hell any time he chooses. He'll make fine fryin'. [[end page]] [[start page]] [[pre-printed]] Sunday, August 25, 1907 [[pre-printed]] Took the 2.50 for F.R. yesterday afternoon. They didn't know exactly how things stood, but I went over the details of the melee, and put everyone wise. Edie doesn't want me to go to New York, - neither do I. It will take a hell of a lot more than I know about my chances now to get me there. New York is more of less of a nightmare to me. I left on the afternoon train, got into Boston early in the evening, and at ten I was on the limited for Rockland, bound for Castine. I didn't expect anything like that a week ago.
