I got his accts. from Bombay this mail, - among them was a list of furniture winding up with "two signboards, painted with the Company's name, viz: ARNOLD CHENEY & CO. AMERICAN MERCHANTS. Imagine that on the outside, and inside that bloody nigger, with his seven chairs and a new mat, with an inflated head the size of a balloon. The damned swine, - I'll put a few fleas in his ear when Sunday comes around. Menahem required my attention most of the morning. Then he unfolded, and reluctantly offered. He will be turned down again. 16th (continued) damned if the bloody swine didn't head his accts. with "paid extra on board for 1st class, there being no room in second class, Rs [[rupee symbol]] 99."
