[[preprinted]] Friday, January 14, 1910 [[/preprinted]] [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] Great Rift valley, but it has cleared up by the time we got to Escarpment, and coming down into the valley the scenes were beautiful,-an immense stretch of country spread out in view. What a peach of an American girl,- one of the mission people- we saw at Kijabe! From there it was only a short run to Lake Navaisha, and then to Nakuru,- where I am writing,- 450 miles from Mombasa. 14th. By the Great Horn Spoon but when I woke up this morning, I was almost blue with the cold! I folded myself up as much as I could, [[end page]] [[start page]] [[preprinted]] Saturday, January 15, 1910 [[/preprinted] and shivered under my three layers of blankets. And this is only about nineteen minutes,- twenty four or five miles - from the Equator! I decided it was too cold for me up here, and I'm going back by tonight's train. [[underlined]] 15th. [[/underlined]] Got away from Nakuru at three forty in the a.m. Altogether slept about four hours last night and tonight. We were late in leaving Nairobi, and missed seeing Kilimanjaro on the way back, whereat I cussed. Saw game all the way from Gilgil to Simba. I hate to think of my own Chikula and me own little crib tomorrow! Lead me to it - then!
