[[preprinted]] United States Indian Service, ^[[Winnebago]] Agency ^[[June 22nd]], 188^[[8]] [[/preprinted]] Dear Miss Fletcher. I finally "rounded" up Geo Decard(Police) and took him out strikethrough]]th[/strikethrough]] to survey his land, and I found the Nos. of the 40 acres that you wanted, to be -"SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Sec.4-T.26 R.9."=40 acres. It was a hard job as I had to start from the agency tract and survey over creeks, hill and brush and farms. I am still breaking in cattle for the Indians to break prairie. Some of them, are doing well, but most of them are waiting until corn is cultivated. I will quit to-day as "farmer" as I have been appointed for the Omaha School. The soldiers are here to run of cattle. All well Very Respectfully, M. M. [[?]]
