December 16, 1961 Madame, In your advertisement of "Connoisseur", December 1961, I notice on a cassone a sculpture representing a "Pieta". I am wondering whether you would be willing to send me a photograph of it with all possible information pertaining thereto. I assume it is of wood, for were it in terracotta or plaster, it would not interest me. Besides the medium and dimensions, as well as the price, could you let me know whether it has any particular pedigree and if the name of any specific artist has been suggested as author. By the same token, I would be obliged to you for posting me on whether you know of any other sculpture — that is, important physically speaking, as well as qualitatively — especially in marble or bronze. Trusting I may hear from you, and thanking you in advance, Yours very sincerely, JACQUES SELIGMANN & CO., INC. G Germain Seligman Miss Mary BELLIS Charnham Close Hungerford, Berkshire England ^[[M. Bellis GS]]
