January 12, 1962 Madame, It was extremely kind of you to forward the photograph of the "Pieta" — pursuant to my request of December 16, and do have my thanks for your lines of January 10th. The overall reproduction of your ad in Connoisseur gave me an entirely different impression of this group — I am thus especially glad to have had the opportunity of a closer view of this sculpture. However, as interesting as the work of art may be, it is not exactly the type I am looking for and I am therefore returning your print herewith. I made a note of your address and hope to be able to drop in on you some time when I am back in England. With renewed appreciation of your courtesy, Yours very sincerely, Germain Seligman Miss Mary BELLIS Charnham Close Hungerford, Berkshire England Encl. 1 photograph ^[[Bellis GS]]
