May 28th., 1936. My dear Miss Terhune: We are planning a very important exhibition of works by Renoir to be held most probably in November next. May I take the liberty of asking you whether in the group of paintings which you have purchased, you own a painting by this master, and whether you would be willing to loan it to us? We have already obtained the loan of some very important paintings belonging to Museums and private collections, and expect this will be one of the outstanding shows of the season. Thanking you in advance for your kind reply, I am, Yours very sincerely, (German Séligmann) Miss Alice Terhune, 2252 Parkwood Ave., Toledo, Ohio
