- 3 - To terminate, I am ready to depose "in escrow" the sum of $6,000. to the benefit of the proprietor or proprietors of the tapestry from whom I have bought through your intermediary, and to remit to your firm 5% of the actual sum which you remitted to the proprietor or proprietors of this tapestry. In spite of everything, I am convinced in view of our good personal relationship, that you understand that we finally have to put the "cards on the table", and that only by this procedure can this little difference between us be settled without my having to turn it over to my attorneys. Very sincerely yours, (signed) CASSEL B[[underlined]]on[[/underlined]] Cassel van Doorn. P. S. On further reflection and to simplify my existence which I will continue by breaking my relations with your firm, I will send you enclosed a new check No. 362 in the sum of $6,000. destined to the seller or sellers of the tapestry which I am obliged to write to your name since you refuse to let me know theirs. However, I shall discover the name of the latter and I reserve the right to know the amount of the check due the proprietors. As far as your commission is concerned and in order to pay you eventually, you will have to let me know the exact amount which your firm sent to the proprietor or proprietors of the tapestry. In the meantime you are at liberty to start legal action against me in order to obtain payment of the commission. I do not consider my action more inimical than yours, and perhaps some light will be thrown on this matter which so far you have refused to do. (signed) CASSEL One enclosure: check.
