Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Head Quarters Sub. District of Beaufort N.C. Beaufort N.C. January 29th 1866 McCain David Esqr 0 Newport Carterett Co. N.C. Sir, Enclosed please find duplicate "Blanks" which you will fill up and return to me. You are hereby notified to forward the amount due to the United States, of the products of the land and premises, agreeable to the contract in the lease given you by C.T. Blakeslee Asst. Special Agent of the Treasury Dept. U.S. dated January 23d 1865 Very Respfy Your Obdt Servt. [[signature]] Richard Dillon [[/signature]] Capt V.R.C. and Asst. Supt. R.F. & A.L. Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands. Head Quarters Sub District of Beaufort Beaufort N.C. January 29th 1866. Gear Capt. A.S. A.Q.M. 0 Morehead City N.C. Captain, I have this day received a letter from Capt. Seely, stating that he has requisitions approved "for an ambulance with horses (not mules) harness and outfit complete. Can you furnish them all? If not, can you furnish [[end page]] [[start page]] 13 part, and what parts if any. The Captain requires to know I am, Captain, Very Respfy Your Obdt Servt. [[signature]] Richard Dillon [[/signature]] Capt V.R.C and Asst. Supt. Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Head Quarters Sub District of Beaufort N.C. Beaufort N.C. January 29th 1866 Seely Capt F.A. A.Q.M. 10/14 Fin. Agt. & Supt. E. Dist. N.C. Captain, I have the honor to request that you will forward me the list of lands, houses, and tenements turned over to the owners in this Sub District as soon as possible, as there are parties enquiring about such properties, supposed to be in charge of the Bureau, but which are not borne on my return; Also please send me a complete list from the Records of your office of all lands in this Sub Dist. under charge of the Bureau, as I have heard of some that are not on the Records at these Head Quarters. I have requested Capt. Gear to inform me about the ambulance horses &c. and will write you tomorrow. Please instruct me relative to the huts and shanties mentioned in my letter of the 26th inst.
