States that it will take the following mentioned lumber to build the school house at Island Creek 42 joists 14 ft long 44 Rafters 16 ft long 50 Scantling 14 ft long 3 by 4 1000 ft. flooring 600 ft. Sheathing Plank [[?]] Stripps 14 ft long Laths Lime & Hair 4 Kegs of Nails one 10s 8s 6s 4s 7960 Shingles — That he has made an agreement to commence the school Oct. 1" and if the material comes to hand it will be done Nov 1" 1867 [[image -- rubber stamp]] Bureau Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands HEAD QUARTERS ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER, D. C., Washington, August 28th 1867. Respectfully referred to Rev. John Kimball, Supt of Freedmen's Schools, D. C. for remarks — By order of Bvt. Brig. Gen. HOWARD. √ R. G. Rutherford A. A. A. General. Washington DC. Sept 8th 1867. Respectfully returned. I forward herewith a request for lumber which I ask may be approved in the place of this. I have made this change after Consultation with Mr J H Butler. John Kimball Supt of schools. 866 Bureau Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands HEAD QUARTERS ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER, D. C., Washington, September 5th, 1867. Respectfully referred to Bvt. Major J. M. Brown, D.
