(Wrapper one enclosures) States that some cattle were buried on his lot, purchased from Trustees Howard University, while in the use by the Bureau. Asks that they be disinterred hold for Maj Eldridge Received A. C. D. C. 5/19 1868. Bureau Refugees, Freedmen, & Abandoned Lands Head-Quarters Asst. Commr., D. C., WASHINGTON, May 19th 1868. Respectfully referred to Surg in Chf D. C. for remarks In absence of Asst Comr √ Stuart Eldridge A.A.A.G. Bureau R. F. & A. L. Office Surg in Chief D.C. Washington, May 19th 1868. Respectfully returned to the A. A. A. Genl with the remark that it would be advisable to have the exhumation of the dead bodies postponed until the commencement of the cold season.
