Lands | April 29, 1868 Writen in regard to vouchers of Geo. Rinehart (col'd) his wife and daughter, for attending a Mil. Com'n, at Salisbury N.C. which was placed in the hands of Thos D. McAlpine for collection. | Filed | | May 15th 1868 | Birnie, Wm. Ag't B.R. F.& A.L. See letter of Jan'y 14th 1868 from O. Brown, Bv't Brig Gen'l Vol'n & Asst. Com'r for Virginia. | May 13" 1868. States that a letter has been received at his office from the Asst Com'r for N.C. directing him to make further efforts to collect the money due to E. Smith (col'd) of Virginia by Ja" Ransom (col'd) of Lincolnton. Requests that he be furnished with the amount due to said Smith by said Ransom. States also that Ransom promises to pay it in about 2 months. | Bur of R. F. and A. Lands Charlotte N.C. May 15th 1868 Respectfully returned to Wm Birnie Agent at Lincolnton. The balance due E. Smith (col'd) of Virginia by Ja' Ransom (col'd) of Lincolnton on the account referred to within is eighteen (18) dollars. There being no Agent of the Bureau at Lincolnton at the time the papers was received the matter was referred to M. H. Hill Chairman of the Board of Registrars for Lincoln Co. Mr. Hill has the papers referred to in his possession, and who will at request transfer them to you. T.D. McAlpine Agent B.R.F. & A.Lands|
