Arlington, Va. 19 Jan 1947. Dear Doris: What a wonderful vacation to look forward to! By the time this letter reaches you, you should be thru 2 of the 3 with the worst yet to come. But maybe by then you will have taken courage and realized that you are not so stupid or the exam so hard as you had fancied. So don't get upset. You will surely get by all right. And then have 10 days to recover. Are you planning to spend most of it in Stoughton or will you be about Cambridge some the 2nd week so as to listen to records or take in events? You have a good chance to get your wardrobe in shape. Why don't you go on to Boston & do a little sightseeing on your own? Out to the Museum of Fine Arts, to a Symphony, maybe, go to see Dorothy Wentworth or have her over, and maybe out to Tufts to visit Irene Willis? If you go over to the art museum, stop in to visit Anna Hoyt, who is head of the textile dept. there. I had a letter from Elizabeth who spent Xmas in Guatemala & was entertained by Wilson Popenoe, the one that we wrote to about her. She seemed satisfied with her trip. Well, Dad has stayed home for a solid week and is still rather snorty and coughy, but I think he has had a pretty good time here. I routed him out yesterday & went to a movie, - Blue Skies, with a lot of Bing Crosby singing and F. Astaire dancing. It was better than 2 guys from Milwaukee and he laughed a lot over the antics. I sneezed for 2 days steady, then got all over my little attack. When you go out to Stoughton, look at the storehouse and see if the folks got the other ration slips, whether we left them behind, as I am inclined to think, for their use. And let me know. I can't get any
