as you walk along. The river of course is close beside you over the wall, [[strikethrough]] of course [[/strikethrough]] all the way along, and you see the boats and beautiful grey stone bridges, and towers of all sorts in the distance. The gigantic Tour Eiffel which is going to be 500 ft high and is to be finished for the Exposition next year is a hideous blot and will never be any use either that I can see. It is most unparisian in them to have built it. Lulu and Frank have been gone to Italy for a week and there has been only one postal from them. The pension is quite deserted now only the Conants, Mr and Mrs Wilson and [[new page]] ourselves , with occasionally de Fontenay, and another Frenchman whom we call the Opera Comique, who sings loudly to himself in the room next ours, which he inhabits. The Conants are thinking of giving up England, and going to Concarneau, because Lazar is going to be there with a class. They would like to take a studio, and two rooms, with us, which would be very economical, and nice. I should take lessons of Lazar, if not out of doors, at any rate in the studio - as Mrs Conant has promised to sit for me if we go
