[[circled]] 2 [[/circled]] => A single space shuttle mission involves a large team of people with diverse skills, + different responsibilities - All working toward a common goal. This is the key to NASA's success <=> + the key to almost any successful endeavor. To prepare for a launch, NASA has a team working on solid rocket testing, a team training astronauts, a team scheduling experiments + allocating resources (electrical power, computer time...) + (this week!) a team explaining it all to the media... => Each team has particular responsibilities, each requiring specific skills, + each critical to the success of the mission. ---------- Compare this to a company, say a company launching a new product or service. The company will have a team devoted to product development, another team to product testing (find bugs, if so[[?]] before ships to customers [[crossed-out]] do [/crossed-out]]!), another team to marketing...and [[underlined]]again[/underlined]], each has a critical role to play in the company's success => & each is working toward a common goal: the successful delivery of product or service. [The lessons of space Pgm are broadly applicable] ---------- I applied to be an astronaut in 1978 => Banner year • Saw ad => applied (35/1st 6) in a sense lucky (right place at right time) • But I had prepared myself <=> studied hard in school, developed a set of skills (like many of you are developing now), prepared to take advantage of opportunity Hadn't thought about, but NASA believed was critical [Skill: Part of team] Use my skills in combination with others Shuttle 1st launched in 1981 [[boxed]] SLIDE 1 [[/boxed]]
Notes on Transcribing this page (optional)
It seems to be "find bugs (if so)" but the if isn't that clear. 2nd person: I agree 3rd person: perhaps "In SW"?
