with C. Franken all day. This morning he read over all my orders for the Foyers du Soldat, which of course are [strikethrough/] in [strikethrough] written in French. As Franken read it I translated into English and [Jimmie?] took it down in short hand and then rewrote it in long hard. You will be surprised if you could see me reading now in french. it seems to me that I can understand very well. I have noticed that I have a very large vocabulary which has come from hearing the many words you have used. They have gradually sunk in without me knowing it. There is a little [[?]] in forming French. but with a little push I got there. but [[?]] to speak well, and will study for that purpose well. At noon we had lunch. Then we went out to Cemitiere du Montparnasse. We entered by the side. The grave of Father & Mother are fixed up very nice. There is a small low fence around it of stone and iron, a marker at the head with a cross on top, over the grave at the foot are low green bushes, the very pretty flowers on the side, out side the railing are some shroub trees a little higher.
