234 September 3d Mr. H. B. DaCosta; Fayetteville, Ga Dr. Sir: - Please write me at will, [[strikethrough]] [t?] [[/strikethrough]] what the people decide to do, & whether you will stay there & c. Our school year will begin Oct. 1st. I should like any information you can give me concerning other schools in that region. Yours of 28th Aug. is received. I do not think it possible to get any Aid Society to pay your salary for they use all our [[?]] now. I will however do this. If a free school can be kept open there numbering not less than 40 pupils, I will pay you $10. per month, provided the people will raise enough outside of the school to give you a salary that you will be willing to work for. They ought to be able to board you & pay you some cash each month beside. if they deserve a school, you can tell the people this & if they will pledge themselves to do what will satisfy you, I will pay you at the beginning of every month, after I receive your report - and a certificate from you that the people have kept their agreement. If they will not do this I think we shall have to find you a place elsewhere. I am anxious that school should be kept up. This money that I promise will come from Peabody Few Forsyth a squire in town. There never has been much of a school there and know but little about it. I hope to do something [done] Yours. E. A. Ware, [[margin]] I inclose a circular which I send to Bureau [[?]] [/margin]]
