28th My workman returned from Stebens bringing a few Xema. 29th Started up the canal at 9:30 a.m. saw very few birds on the way except Branta hutchinsii & leucoparea and anas acuta which were very plentiful going up the Crooked canal a short distance we had tea at the old village site at the first bend. This through we went on and the mud banks being bared I found Tringa maculata common and about equalled in numbers by a Tringa [[strikethrough]] that been a close resemblence to T. Bairdii but differs[[/strikethough]] T. horsfordi many ways from the descriptions of this bird as the following notes will show Tringa horsfordi 1342 L. 8 1/8 sp. of W. 16 1343 " 8 1/3 " 16 44 " 8 1/3 " 16 45 " 8 2/5 " 16 46 " 8 1/2 " 16 47 " 8 1/4 " 16 48 " 8 1/4 " 16 49 " 8 1/3 " 16 1/4 1350 " 9 " 17 51 " 9 " 17 52 " 9 1/8 " 17 1/2 53 " 9 1/4 " 17 1/2 54 " 9 " 17 1/4 55 " 9 " 17 56 " 9 " 17 1/5 57 " " 58 " " [[the following description of the bird runs sideways across the far right side of the page]] Iris hazel. Bill black at tip becoming dull greenish yellow or dirty horn color on some spec's. at basal third of lower mandible. The same part of upper mandible also evidently lighter and in some spec's with an evident yellowish tinge. Legs + feet dull greenish yellow-
